The City of Wichita, the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation along with consultant Design Workshop presented the initial streetscape concepts for Douglas Avenue. This project - a detailed design plan, addresses a range of transit and transportation options for the corridor. A Project Downtown initiative, this plan will provide a road map for the streetscape design of Douglas Avenue that reflects the community's vision for Downtown Wichita.

On July 27th, a public open house and presentation was held in the Mary Jane Teall Theater at Century II. Design Workshop presented (9) initial design concepts for consideration and the public was given the opportunity to provide interactive feedback through electronic keypad polling.

On August 31st, a second open house and presentation was held at the newly renovated Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview offering the public the opportunity to provide feedback on the direction of the draft design and also give input through additional keypad polling questions. On October 27th, the final open house and public presentation was held at the Bank of America Building. The public was given their last opportunity to see the near-final plan and recommendations by Design Workshop and was again able to provide feedback via keypad polling. If you were unable to attend, you can still provide feedback for the 3rd online survey here. The plan and recommendations will be presented to City staff and advisory boards over the coming weeks; the final plan will then be presented to the City Council on Dec. 10th for endorsement.

We encourage you to voice your opinion - the survey results will help guide the design of the plan and also provide the statistical framework for our City leaders to make informed decisions going forward.
