MOMENTUM

The light is green, the future is forward, and the moment is now.

Now is the moment. Wichita 2009. Welcome to the intersection of planning and progress. Where do we go from here? Wichita’s city core is poised for tremendous growth. In the previous decade, Downtown Wichita has seen over $800 million invested by the public and private sectors.  Projects such as Old Town, WaterWalk, Keeper of the Plains and the new INTRUST Bank Arena distinctly mark our skyline.

A MOMENTUM is building in the community to see the City of Wichita become the next great American River City. The community is engaged in a process to develop a twenty year vision for its downtown, and all citizens of Wichita are invited to participate. Learn more about the development of a Master City Plan.

Mayor Carl Brewer: “Wichita is a great city.  Our residents want to make it even better. We’ve achieved a lot in downtown, such as Old Town, the arts and residential life. As I’ve been talking about downtown and what competing cities are doing, people have shown great interest in taking our downtown to the next level. They understand it’s about keeping people here, recruiting new people and business. It’s about our future, and working together, I know we can get there.”

What we envision for downtown is up to us. All of us. So here is the question: What kind of downtown do you want? Join the discussion on our blog at momentum-ict.org, or go here for ways to connect to the process.  To see a summery of past works and our current momentum, click here.
