With so much at stake for the future of our city, Mayor Carl Brewer has established a Downtown Steering Committee to provide oversight, support and assistance throughout the process of developing and implementing a Wichita Downtown Master Plan. WDDC is thankful for the strong support of so many individuals, businesses and community members who give of their time and energy to strengthen Downtown Wichita.
Master Plan Steering Committee Mission
I. Connect the community to the vision/importance of revitalizing downtown and communicate to their respective networks and stakeholders;
II. Build momentum behind current initiatives;
- INTRUST Bank Arena – parking related components/infrastructure
- Private sector projects
- Public sector projects
III. Advance Downtown development strategies;
- Provide recommendations for the plan.
- Serve as sounding board and recommending body to the consultant team; assist in collecting and filtering input/data.
- Represent the broad interests of the community. The Steering Committee will help facilitate the formal review and adoption of development strategies by the city and county.
- Interact with the selected consultant team throughout the planning process.
IV. Continually engage and challenge the community to dream about the future of Downtown Wichita.
